Fall Performance Auditions

MoCo has plenty of performance opportunities for kids of all ages this fall!  Auditioning for a theatre or dance performance can be an intimidating event. MoCo’s auditions are a low-pressure environment designed to help educate students about what it’s like to participate in an audition. Any student who registers for a performance based class will receive a part in the show.

Musical Theatre

Elementary Musical
The Aristocats KIDS
Grades 2nd – 5th

Auditions: September 5, 3:30 – 5:00pm at MoCo Arts

Performances: November 18, 2018
MoCo’s Black Box, the Founder’s Theatre

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s Fall Elementary School Musical ‘The Aristocats KIDS’. In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionaire heiress wills her entire estate to Duchess, her high-society cat, and her three little kittens. Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. Now it’s up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O’Malley, and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day.

This audition is open to kids grades 2nd – 5th grade. Students must enroll in the class in order to audition, once registered, rehearsals and CDs are available to pickup (when applicable). Everyone auditioning will receive a part in this performance class. Students are encouraged to prepare a song from the show if they would like to be considered for a singing solo or lead role. Middle School Musical
Willy Wonka Jr.
Grades 6th – 8th

Auditions: September 5, 5:00 – 6:30pm at MoCo Arts

Performances: December 9, 2018

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s Fall Middle School Musical ‘Willy Wonka Jr.’. Follow the enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are greedy children, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory – or suffer the consequences.

This audition is open to kids grades 6th – 8th grade. Students must enroll in the class in order to audition. Everyone auditioning will receive a part in this performance class. High School Musical
Footloose
Grades 9th – 12th

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s High School Musical ‘Footloose’. One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home.

This audition is open to kids grades 9th – 12th grade. Students must enroll in the class in order to audition. Everyone auditioning will receive a part in this performance class. Elementary Play
The Jungle Book
Grades 2nd – 5th

Auditions: September 10, 5:15 – 6:30pm at MoCo Arts

Performances: November 11, 2018

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s Fall Elementary Play ‘The Jungle Book’. In this adaptation of Kipling’s famous stories, the young boy Mowgli is adopted by Mother and Father Wolf, and lives peacefully under the protection of Bagheera, the panther, and the teachings of Baloo the bear. But as he outwits a band of jesting monkeys, escapes from a hypnotic python and learns the Laws of the Jungle, he will not be able to escape his inevitable showdown with Shere Khan.

This audition is open to kids grades 2nd – 5th grade. Students must enroll in the class in order to audition. Everyone auditioning will receive a part in this performance class. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Grades 6th – 8th

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s Fall Middle School Play ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. Set in the land of Narnia, this story faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia.

This audition is open to kids grades 6th – 8th grade. Students must enroll in the class in order to audition. Everyone auditioning will receive a part in this performance class. High School Play
Our Town
Grades 9th – 12th

Performances: January 5 & 6, 2019

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s Fall High School Play ‘Our Town’. Follow the Gibbs and Webb families in small town Grover’s Corner, New Hampshire, through twelve years of life changes in the Monadnock Region – from the mundane, to the romantic, to the devastating. This landmark American drama will be directed by popular Peterborough Players actors Bridget Beirne and Tom Frey.

This audition is open to kids grades 9th – 12th grade. Students must enroll in the class in order to audition. Everyone auditioning will receive a part in this performance class. The Nutcracker
School of Dance
Grades 2nd – 12th

Auditions: September 15, 2:00 – 4:00pm at MoCo Arts

Performances: December 14-16, 2018
Redfern Arts Center at Keene State College

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s School of Dance performance of the holiday classic ‘The Nutcracker’. It’s a cozy Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum’s house, and two young children Fritz and Clara are preparing for a party. When the toymaker Drosselmeyr arrives he brings the children gifts. Clara receives the best present of all, a Nutcracker. That night when the clock strikes midnight, the Nutcracker comes alive and takes Clara on an unforgettable adventure, don’t miss this Holiday classic!

Nutcracker Rep Auditions are open to all dancers also registered in A, A/B, B, B/C, or C in Ballet, Modern or Jazz. Auditions will be for the parts of Clara, Fritz, Governess, Maids, Party Girls, Party Boys, Gingerbread Cookies, and Angels. Parts will be assigned based on size, ability to follow directions, musicality, and dedication. Students must be registered for both the technique class and the Nutcracker Battle Rep class. Everyone auditioning will receive a part.

What to wear: Female dancers should come wearing black leotards, pink tights and ballet slippers. Male dancers should wear black tights or pants, a white shirt and ballet slippers. If you aren’t in a ballet class and don’t have ballet slippers you may wear jazz shoes or bare feet.


Storytime Theatre
Oh, Say Did You See?
Grades 4yrs – 2nd grade

Auditions: September 13, 3:45 – 4:45pm at MoCo Arts

Performances: January 13, 2019

About the Show: Audition for MoCo’s Storytime Theatre performance of ‘Oh, Say Did You See?’. Grab your camera and head out on a grand American road trip! ‘Oh, Say Did You See?’ is an original musical written especially for Storytime Theatre that brings audience all over the United States, visiting some of the many National Parks in our beautiful county.

This musical theatre class is open to kids 4yrs – 2nd grade. Every student who registers will receive a part in the musical. If they wish to audition, fun songs and lines from the show will be provided for the low pressure audition. Auditions are held the 2nd week of class, while audition tips and technique will be taught during the 1st week of class.
