CupCAKE Summer Camp

CupCAKE welcomes campers 4 years – grade 3.

Children ages 4 through grade 3 are invited to join MoCo Arts for CupCAKE, a fun introduction to performing and creative arts, that challenges campers to use their imagination and think in new ways. CupCAKE camp runs for four weeks: the last week of June and the first three weeks of August. Parents can sign kids up for one, two, three or all four weeks of camp. Each week focuses on a theme that includes singing, dancing, and creative arts projects, culminating in a musical theatre performance at the end of the week. MoCo provides props and costumes that stimulate young campers’ minds and builds in playtime where children can socialize and have fun being kids. CupCAKE campers develop important life skills like teamwork, listening, self-awareness, patience, confidence and how to support others in a group setting.

What are this year’s weekly themes?

Week 1: Dancing with the Stars, June 24-28

Learn about our solar system and the universe while singing, dancing, acting, and putting on a show. Featuring catchy songs about the planets and the stars, we imagine a trip on a rocket ship zooming through the galaxy during our performance on Friday at noon.

Week 2: Many Moons, July 29-August 2

We will learn all about our closest neighbor in space… the moon… while putting on a delightful play called Many Moons by James Thurber. Set in a castle, this fairytale-inspired story is about a princess who wants the moon and features singing, dancing, and acting.  Our art projects, games, and special events will all be themed around the moon, too.

Week 3: Star Wars Week, August 5-9

Inspired by the characters from the Star Wars franchise, our story takes place at Darth’s Disco.  This silly story is filled with lots of singing, dancing, music, and acting.  Arts and crafts, games, waterplay, and making friends will fill our days when we are not working on the show.

Week 4: MoCo to the Moon, August 12-16

What child hasn’t imagined going on a trip to the moon?  That’s exactly what happens in this original musical theatre production. This week of camp will be out of this world while we sing, dance, act, and make art inspired by a trip to the moon.

Counselors & CITs

Counselor/CIT Application for MoCo’s CupCAKE Summer Camps

Thank you for your interest in being a counselor or CIT at this year’s CupCAKE Summer Camps for young children. The camp is a fun, fast-paced, energetic environment with a focus on being safe and supportive of our campers. Counselors and CITs will assist the children in all the activities, lending their own creative talents and energy to the process. In addition to valuable leadership experience and free training in childcare techniques, CITs can also earn internship credits towards classes at MoCo Arts and are required to complete a daily log of hours at the front desk each day. Counselors must be 16+ and can qualify for a paid internship. This is a superb educational opportunity for young people to work on leadership skills, to serve as role models for the children, and to have a fun practicum experience which prepares them for more challenging positions in the future!

Qualifications:
• Counselors: 16 years or older.
• CITs: 12 years or older.
• Experience working with children,
• Interest in gaining more skills in this area,
• Reliable, hard-working, and fun-loving,
• Energy, responsibility and a willingness to be part of a team,
• Preferably have a background in dance, music, theater and/or art.

Staff over 16 may be required to undergo an interview process, background check, reference review and an orientation. Failure to meet these criteria may result in applicant not being selected for this training opportunity. Turn in completed application to Danielle Fitzpatrick via email at dfitzpatrick@moco.org or at MoCo Arts, 40 Roxbury St., Keene. Hope to see you at camp!
