Raising the Barre (and funds) for Arts Education

Dance class is a bit different in the age of COVID

Fall is here, and that means one thing around here. No, not fall colors and cooler days, nor comfort foods and pumpkin spice. Well, it does mean all that, but it also means MoCo Arts is getting ready for our annual fundraiser, Lights. Camera. KEENE!

Set to take place on Saturday, October 24th, LCK 2020, as it’s affectionately known to the enthusiastic team of committee members organizing the event, promises to be unique for several reasons. The most obvious of course being that this year the event is taking place during a pandemic.

Fundraising for arts education in the time of COVID

2020 marks the ninth year MoCo Arts will host LCK. The event is a critical component of our fundraising formula, with proceeds benefitting MoCo’s tuition assistance program, and supporting year-round arts education programs.

Most years at this time the creative team would be busy coaxing local business and community leaders to perform on stage in front of a couple hundred people without ever having so much as glanced at a script. And the event committee would be hard at work talking to sponsors, collecting auction items, meeting with vendors, and fretting over every detail to ensure the evening goes off without a hitch.

And the community would step up and take the stage to support the kids. And the evening would be remembered for the laughter, camaraderie, and goodwill.

If our post-COVID world has taught us anything at all, it’s got to be the importance of remaining nimble. Of thinking “outside the box” and finding creative solutions to our problems. Fortunately, there is no shortage of creativity here at MoCo Arts!

MoCo Arts is committed to doing whatever it takes to keep our family safe and healthy.

Time to get creative.

Where there’s a will there’s a way, and we knew we needed to figure out how to put together an event that our supporters would be excited to attend while adhering to all of the guidelines from the State of New Hampshire put in place to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. An evening of fine dining, great company, and of course the highlight of the evening, a hysterical live performance. All delivered with the health and safety of everyone in attendance as our top priority.

After many hours of deliberation, considering every possible scenario, we finally found our solution.

The Live Event

We’re excited to announce that MoCo will be hosting their annual fundraising event in-person at MoCo Arts! With all of the necessary precautions in place to ensure the health and well-being of our attendees, volunteers, and staff, the live event will be held in MoCo’s black box, The Founder’s Theatre, and will include a delectable menu by CC&D’s Market Kitchen, cash bar, giveaways, our popular Send-a-Kid auction, and of course, premiere seats to one of the funniest shows you’ll see this year.

Our signature comedic performance featuring local business and community leaders will be presented to you this year on the big screen! Though the performance will be pre-recorded, we promise it will be one for the ages! The theme this year? We don’t want to give away too much, but here’s a hint: we’re bringing the Big Apple to Keene.

You’ll enjoy an extraordinary experience while supporting arts education for the children of our community and helping MoCo further their mission of transforming lives through movement and creative expression.

Tickets to the live event are extremely limited and cannot be purchased online. Secure your seats today by calling (603) 357-2100.

The Auction

Again, this year we have a fine selection of items up for auction, available through the generosity of the many local businesses and organizations that have contributed to this year’s event.
