Mother Goose Reveals her Muse – A New Spin on the Classics

How well do you know Mother Goose? Chances are you’re thinking that you have a pretty good grasp of her beloved nursery rhymes. Many of us grew up with them and have since begun passing them on for our own children to enjoy. There’s Little Miss Muffet, Jack Sprat, Humpty Dumpty, Little Bo Peep and many more stories to share. The Elementary School Theatre students at MoCo Arts are preparing for a play that will put your Mother Goose chops to the test and offer a new (and absolutely hilarious) perspective on these timeless tales.

The cast of MoCo Arts Elementary School Play, A Mother Goose Comedy

MoCo Arts Elementary School Play, A Mother Goose Comedy, will be taking place in The Founder’s Theatre at MoCo Arts on Sunday, March 31st, with performances at 1pm and 4pm.This light-hearted, family-friendly show features the world-famous, fun-loving Mother Goose, who is now retired and living in Mother Goose Resort Spa, where she has time to keep active and pursue her favorite hobbies. Who would’ve guessed that she’s really into sports and fitness! She gets tweets and texts, and even letters, from children all over the world who want to know how she got the ideas for her nursery rhymes. Assisted by the stage manager, her gander Sydney, she uses comedy sketches and audience participation to show how all of her nursery rhymes and characters came about.

“I am super excited to be in A Mother Goose Comedy because it is such a funny show,” says Lily Fitzpatrick, a fifth grader from Keene who is playing the part of Mother Goose in the show. “Being at MoCo is a fun opportunity. I love theatre and dance so much!” Lily has been part of MoCo for most of her life, and recently was seen as Madame in MoCo Arts Elementary School Musical, Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS. We’re excited to have her back on stage!

Featuring a relatively small cast, most cast members will be taking on multiple roles. But don’t let that fool you! Because the cast is so small, every student in the play will really have an opportunity to shine. These students have been working very hard on this hilarious show that audience members of all ages will enjoy. Come out and support these awesome kids by purchasing your tickets today!
