WHO WE ARE
MoCo Arts is a non profit, community-based, family-centered organization offering a unique combination of arts and fitness experiences for all, ages 18 months to 100. We welcome everyone and greet them where they are in their movement and creative arts journey.

Our professional and accomplished artist/educators and certified wellness and fitness teachers have years of teaching and artistic credits behind them and they are passionate about what they do. Tuition covers 2/3 of our costs, and, because we are a non-profit institution, we rely on donations and grants to fund the remainder.

OUR MISSION
Transforming lives through movement and creative expression

OUR VISION
To be the recognized leader in community-based arts and fitness programming, igniting a passion for life through movement and creative expression.

OUR HISTORY
Established in November 1991 as The Moving Company Dance Center, dba MOCO ARTS plays an integral role in the lives of people in our community. Our mission is to transform lives through movement and creative expression. In fulfilling our mission, we provide accessible, high quality arts and wellness education programs for people of all ages and levels of ability, advancing the physical, intellectual and social well-being of citizens of Keene and the surrounding Monadnock Region.

Last year, MoCo Arts taught over 2,000 children and adults of all ages and abilities logging over 50,000 hours of student instruction time in dance, theatre, visual arts, music, creative writing and wellness. Our students performed before 10,000 audience members who were witness to our “mission accomplished”---lives transformed.

In fulfilling our commitment to support our community, we provided over $50,000 in scholarship and tuition discount assistance to our students. We provided free literature-based performances for youth, by youth for local schools and we provided transportation support for students to attend Keene’s annual Art Walk. We provided free movement classes to our neighboring senior citizens and we annually offer a free classes day for the entire community. MoCo Arts is a community partner, striving to optimize community resources through creative collaborations.

Our faculty of 26 year round and 25 seasonal teachers is our strength. These professional artist/educators and certified wellness teachers are committed to extending their role beyond the classroom. Their community involvement includes school residencies, community classes, community productions, support of downtown events and serving on local boards. Our administrative staff is also recognized in the community for its community service.

Last year was focused on managing our growth and finding additional program space. To that end, we invested in consulting and pre design services for a new multi arts education center in downtown Keene and we finalized an interim space plan that will consolidate our studio programs to three major downtown locations. We also established five artistic/department directors with five corresponding cost centers. This new structure strengthens our artistic/program quality, planning, evaluation, and financial accountability. We have also established a full time director of communications and development position which provides a focus and consistency to our communications and provides a portion of the resources needed to maintain an actionable, results-oriented development program.
